What is DSRSmart?
DSRSmart is AFDR's online DSR video-based training program.  We post brief training videos from AFDR partners and then notify DSR members that the training is available.  A survey can be posted before the training (to measure current awareness about a topic) and/or a quiz can follow to test knowledge retention.  In most cases, DSRs are provided an incentive (via cash prize drawings, individual cash prizes, etc.) to participate. DSRSmart also can be used to distribute brief surveys to DSRs.

Who can offer training or surveys through DSRSmart?
Any AFDR partner can sponsor a training event or survey assuming they have enough credits to conduct the activity.  Click here to learn about becoming an AFDR partner.  Partners are provided credits (based on their partnership level) that can be used for a variety of AFDR services, including DSRSmart.

What format of video can I use?
We accept any of the common video formats, including wmv, mov, mp4, avi and swf.

How long can my video be?
We recommend keeping videos to four minutes or less to maximize participant engagement and retention of your key messages.

How large can my video file be?
We can accept videos of up to 500MB, but prefer smaller files of 100MB or less.  Smaller files are more easily streamed on most users' computers, thus providing a better user experience.  Flash files (.swf) are generally smaller files than other video formats.

How do I provide the questions and answers for the pre-video survey and the post-video quiz?
Simply provide them to us in an email or in a Word document and we'll import them into our system.

How much lead time do you need to load my video, survey and quiz into your system?
We can generally load that content within about a day, but we recommend that you allow a few  business days for testing and any revisions that might be needed.

How do I get DSRs to participate in my training activity?
We'll set a goal for the level of participation you desire based on your budget.  We'll then email an alert about your DSRSmart activity to our members.  We'll also promote the activity in our weekly Wednesday Call Sheet email newsletter. You also can distribute the DSRSmart link for your training activity to DSRs that your company sales reps and/or broker sales reps work with on a regular basis.  For the quickest participation, we recommend including cash incentives (see below).

How does your cash rewards feature work?
We recommend that you offer small cash rewards to participants (e.g. $15 to the first 100 participants and $10 to the next 200 participants).  We also recommend that you offer a grand prize (e.g. $500) that can be given away via a random drawing among all participants (even those who participated after the small rewards were gone).   You simply provide us with the rewards funds plus $2 for each reward that we fulfill and we'll handle the fulfillment (checks by mail) to all eligible participants.

Do I get access to the names and addresses of activity participants?
If you are using the AFDR database, or a portion thereof, we are bound by confidentiality agreements with our members and therefore cannot provide participant contact data.  If you are not using any portion of the AFDR database for your program, then we can provide you with an Excel spreadsheet containing participant registration data.

What kind of reporting do you provide after the activity?
We can provide you with a report that indicates the number of DSRs by distributor who participated, the average quiz score, and answers to the pre-video survey (on an aggregate level).

How can I measure the results of the training activity?
You can measure the percentage of participants who indicated they were aware of your product and/or preference for selling your product prior to the training activity (based on responses to the pre-video survey).  You can also measure the percentage of participants who retained the key messages in your training video and the percentage of participants who indicated that the video and attachments have helped them to be more prepared to sell your product (via the post video quiz).  Also, based on the number of participating DSRs at each distributor, you may be able to track the subsequent impact on sales with some distributors (using your own sales data).
