Develop an attitude of gratitude and see your life and your business change over the next year. Grateful people — those who perceive gratitude as a permanent trait rather than a temporary state of mind — have an edge on the not-so-grateful.
Each January, roughly 1 in 3 Americans resolve to better themselves in some way. A much smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions. While about 75% of peoplestick to their goals for at least a week, less than half or 46% are still on target six months later, according to the 2015 “Statistic Brain” study.
It’s hard to keep up with that kind of enthusiasm months after you’ve finished your second helping of sauerkraut & pork, but it’s not impossible. This year, instead of focusing on things you don’t have, why not focus on what you do have?
If you want to make real shifts in your life this year, GO FOR GRATITUDE! Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others. Gratitude is more of a compliment to yourself than someone else.
Gratitude is a mental tool that we use to remind ourselves of the good things in our life. When you are having a bad day, week or month, chances are you still have something to be grateful for in your life.
Living a life filled with gratitude will make you happier and healthier. According to University of California Davis psychology professor, Robert Emmons, on average, grateful people are 10% less likely to suffer from diseases brought on by stress, have 12% lower blood pressure, and live seven years longer.
Sending a note of thanks, or expressing appreciation to someone, or sharing in the happiness and gratitude for a positive life change for someone will make a difference in that person’s life and in yours. By expressing gratitude for things you, or other people have, you will uncover more things to be grateful for in your life.
If you’re not sure where to begin, take one small step simply by jotting down one thing that you are grateful for each day. When you take time each day to express gratitude, you begin to think more positively which reduces negative thoughts. Gratitude gives you another way to look at life and instead, focus on the positive. So often, people focus on the negative which can shape your day in a negative manner, but practicing gratitude will help you “unlearn” negative thinking.
Develop an attitude of gratitude with your current customers and prospects and see your life and business change over the next year! Gratitude can be contagious, in a good way.
