642: DSR Of The Year, Pam Story

The Association for Foodservice Distributor Representatives (AFDR) today announced that Pam Story, a veteran DSR with J.Kings Food Service Professionals, Inc. in Holtsville, NY was honored with the prestigious DSR of the Year award by AFDR’s DSR Hall of Fame.

Story was one of 12 candidates selected throughout the year and inducted into the AFDR Hall of Fame.  “Being one of the 12 outstanding monthly inductees is an honor in itself.  Pam’s love for her company, her customers, and her job is apparent in the volume she writes and the loyalty she has in her customers and teammates at J. Kings,” said AFDR’s DSR Dave Miesse.  “Pam has raised the bar on the professionalism of a DSR.  Her work ethic and her integrity are unparalleled.  Story has a deep understanding of the foodservice distribution industry and completely knows what it takes for an operator to be successful.  She does whatever it takes to make sure her customers have the products and expertise they need to be profitable and successful.”

Pam has worked in various areas of the foodservice business which has helped prepare her for her work as a DSR.  Pam worked as a prep cook, and a grill and sauté cook, where she learned invaluable tricks of the trade.   She then moved onto owning a small produce and specialty bread company which led her into becoming the summer chef for Marvin Hamlish in Westhampton, NY.  Pam then worked as the Food Service Director at a healthcare/rehab center when her sales rep from J. Kings told her that she thought Pam would be good at selling food.

Eighteen million dollars per year later, Story is selling 65 accounts with about 65 line items per order/stop.

AFDR and our DSR of the Month sponsor, General Mills Foodservice, congratulate Pam Story on this prestigious honor.
